Disini ada yang pernah jalan jalan, ke taman bersama teman atau kerabat dekat. Atau mengalami suatu kejadian yang menyenangkan atau menyedihkan, apakah kalian pernah mengalami hal tersebut? Cerita mengenai pengalaman ke suatu tempat, atau mengalami kejadian yang menyedihkan atau menyenangkan itu namanya Recount Text. So a recount is a story about someone's experiences in the past.

Definition

Recount text is a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity. Its goal is to entertaining or informing the reader. 


Purpose / function

Recount text is usually in the form of experiences that are considered interesting or memorable. The author retells what he experienced to the reader. It can be interpreted that the function of the text is to inform or entertain the reader.

Nahh.. tentunya dalam sebuah text pasti memiliki struktur text, tujuannya adalah agar teks dapat tertata dengan rapih dan lebih mudah untuk dibaca. Berikut ini struktur teks Recount text.


Generic Structure of Recount Text

# Orientation : It gives the readers the background information needed to understand the text, such as who was involved, where it happened, and when it happened.

# Events : A series of events, ordered in a chronological sequence.

# Re-orientation : A personal comment about the event or what happened in the end.


The Characteristics / Language Feature of Recount Text'

  1. Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.
  2. Frequent use is made of words which link events in time, such as next, later, when, then, after, before, first, at the same time, as soon as she left, late on Friday, On Saturday. On Monday, On Sunday.
  3. Focus on a specific participant, e.g. I (the writer).
  4. Using the conjunctions, such as: then, before, after, etc.
  5. Using an action verb, e.g. went, stayed.
  6. The passive voice may be used, eg. the bottle was filled with ink (Factual Recount).                                                                                                                                                                                  

Same with narrative or other types of text, recount text has several types or types that can be used according to your needs in telling something. Following are the various types and explanations.


Types of Recount

1.    Personal Recount

Personal recount text is a type of text that aims to tell about the author's personal experience. Personal recount adalah jenis paling umum yang sering ditemuin di penulisan recount.

2.   Factual Recount

Udah pernah denger jenis teks ini? Factual recount text is a story to present reports related to events that occurred based on facts (actually happened).

3.   Imaginative Recount

Imaginative recount is a text that is usually used by someone as a story from an imaginative event that is experienced by someone. Contohnya recount text yang menceritakan pengalaman penulius mengenai khayalan yang di dapat dari mimpi.

4.    Historical Recount

Historical recount is a form of recount text whose contents tell historical events. Intinya, teks ini adalah cerita sejarah dalam bahasa Inggris. Tapiii berbeda dengan narrative ya.

Kalau di narrative, sifatnyta adalah khayalan. Sementara itu dalam recount text, sejarah yang diceritakan memang benar-benar terjadi di masa lampau. Contohnya tentang proklamasi kemerdekaan Indonesia.

  • Personal Recount

Cooking Fried Rice

Two months ago, a friend of mine gave me a box of fried rice that she made by herself. I was so amazed by how tasty her fried rice was. It encouraged me to learn how to make delicious fried rice.  So, one week later I made one.

After school, I purposefully did not take a nap. Instead, I went to the kitchen and prepared all the ingredients needed. However, at that time I did not know how to make it or where to start.

So, I tried to find a recipe on YouTube. Then, I found a video of a simple fried rice recipe that had been watched by over 1 million viewers.

After watching the video once, I followed it according to the steps shown in the video. It took me approximately 10 minutes of preparation and 30 minutes of cooking.

When I finished cooking, I served the fried rice on a large plate. Afterwards, I served it for the family. My mother and father said that my fried rice was tasty. But my brother said that it was too spicy for him.

Turns out, cooking was an exciting activity. After receiving compliments from my mother and father, I wanted to make delicious food more and more.


  • Factual Recount

Gangsters in Surabaya

Recently, in the Surabaya area there have been a lot of gangsters or illegal motorbike racers. These racers often fight or argue with other groups of racers. So that the people of Surabaya feel afraid.

Then the police made arrests of illegal racers who had endangered local residents and caused fear.

The police have reported to residents so they don’t have to worry anymore about the racers, because the police have secured them.


  • Historical Recount
Sea of Fire

Bandung as Sea of Fire was a fire that occurred in the city of Bandung on March 24, 1946. Within seven hours, about 200,000 residents of Bandung burned their homes.

British troops as part of the Brigade MacDonald arrived in Bandung on October 12, 1945. Bandung was deliberately burned by TRI and local people. There were black smoke billowing high into the air everywhere. The British Army began to attack so fierce. The greatest battle happened in the Village name Dayeuh Kolot, in South Bandung, where there were a large ammunition depot belonging to British. In this battle, Barisan Rakyat Indonesia  destroyed the ammunition depot.

The strategy to fire Bandung was considered because the power of TRI and people’s militia was not comparable to the British forces and NICA. This incident inspired to create the famous song “Halo, Halo Bandung”.
